FAQs

Why don't you offer drop in classes?

Having different people dropping in and out from week to week can undermine predictability and a sense of class safety that is core to a trauma sensitive yoga practice.  Regular practice with a consistent group has shown to increase the benefits that yoga can bring.  From a teaching perspective, it’s always a great privilege to witness students begin to notice and feel changes in their practice and perhaps  experience comfort as they slow down.

What should I wear to class or a workshop?

Clothes that you feel comfortable to move and rest in.

If you are practicing online from the southern states warm layers and socks are great for keeping cosy whilst we rest, and in winter a hot water bottle can be extra nice if you feel the cold.

What is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative yoga is a practice of yoga where there is no doing, instead you are cradled, cushioned and supported by yoga props such as bolsters, blankets and cushions, (or home sourced alternatives) where you rest for up to 15 minutes. We are not seeking to stretch the body, instead we are pausing comfortably to rest and to cultivate conditions for the body’s parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest response) to come into dominance. It is this space of rest that the systems of our body require if they are to regulate and restore themselves and it is also where we can heal.
